Whether you are travelling for fun, work or in search of the meaning of life, it is certain to cause major changes to your daily routine.
We all know how important it is to exercise and maintain a good diet, but when you are a million miles away from your regular gym, jogging path or kitchen, is it possible to stay fit when travelling?
The answer is a resounding, “Yes!” Here are our top 5 tips:
Create a workout plan
Before you leave home, look into some workout routines online or speaking to a trainer. It is easy to find exercises that do not require any equipment, which you could do in your room or on a beach.
Follow your workout plan
Having a plan is one thing, but sticking to it is another! Just as you have a schedule at home, apply the same commitment to stay fit when travelling. For instance, you can schedule 45 minutes every day at 10 am.
Research the area
Most gyms need you to sign up to direct debit and a contracted period. There are, however, some gyms that may allow you to buy a day or weekly passes.
Try something different
In every country, you will find fun, new ways to keep fit. There are drop-in sessions where you can pay on the day. How about yoga in the park? Or beach volleyball? A good site to check for activities near you is Meetup. You can also do things for free such as running, hiking and swimming in the ocean.
If you have access to a kitchen, hit the local supermarket and prepare some meals. Not only will this be healthier but it will also save you money on eating out.
If you don’t have a kitchen, you can still ensure having a healthy diet by stocking up on fruits and plenty of water.
Enjoy your trip but remember to stay fit when travelling. If you don't, you may find yourself back home having to work twice as hard at the gym!
